17 Mountain Division’s Historic Contributions Remembered by Arunachal Governor on Raising Day

The Indian Army’s 17 Mountain Division is the guardian of the Northeast and the protector of the Siliguri Corridor, according to Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik (Retd). He urged its commanders and soldiers to embrace technology and creativity in order to address new security concerns.The governor emphasized the operational necessity of artificial intelligence, drones, contemporary surveillance systems, cyber capabilities, and emerging technologies, especially in the changing post-Operation Sindoor security environment, during a sainik sammelan on the occasion of the Division’s 65th Raising Day at the Army Cantonment in Gangtok, according to a press release.

In order to win hearts and minds and secure crucial territory, Parnaik urged the Division to further develop people-centric efforts like Operation Sadbhavana and military-civil fusion. He also emphasized the necessity for agility, creativity, constant learning, and perception management.The governor paid rich tributes to the 17 Mountain Division’s historic contributions, from the World Wars and the liberation of Goa to its crucial role in the merger of Sikkim with the Union of India, and praised the division for its illustrious legacy, extraordinary professionalism, and unwavering dedication to duty.
