As many as 33 hydropower projects, totaling a projected capacity of 19,165 MW, are under development in Arunachal Pradesh. According to the state’s hydropower department, five projects have been commissioned: Dikshi Hydropower Project (24 MW), Kameng Hydroelectric Project (600 MW), Khangtang Hydropower Project (7 MW), Lower Panyor Hydroelectric Project (405 MW), and Pare Hydroelectric Project (110 MW). North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) leads with 11 projects, three of which are operational; followed by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam with five and NHPC Limited with three. The largest future project, Dibang Multipurpose Project, will feature a capacity of 2,880 MW. Notably, the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, at 2,000 MW, is nearing completion, with two of its eight units commissioned in late 2025 and early 2026, and the remainder expected to follow by December 2026.
