The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet has cleared a series of far-reaching reforms in the government recruitment system, aiming to improve transparency, efficiency, and capacity within the state administration. The decisions, taken during a cabinet meeting held in Ziro, are expected to help build a stronger and more competent workforce to support the state’s long-term development goals. Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the new framework will modernise recruitment across multiple departments. Among the key changes is the adoption of the Labour Inspector Recruitment Rules 2024, under which two vacant posts will now be filled through the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission’s combined competitive examination. Officials said this step would not only make the process more competitive but also ensure stronger enforcement of labour laws across the state.
Another important update was the introduction of the Marketing Inspector Recruitment Rules 2024, which replace regulations dating back to 1999. The revised rules update eligibility criteria, feeder grades, and qualifications to match the present-day needs of the market, reflecting the government’s efforts to keep pace with changing economic demands. The cabinet also approved amendments to the Art Expert Recruitment Rules, adding the post of Exhibition Assistant under the Department of Information and Public Relations. This move, officials explained, complies with the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission while providing new opportunities to promote and safeguard Arunachal’s rich cultural heritage.
On the financial side, the government introduced the Finance and Accounts Officer/Treasury Officer Recruitment Rules 2024. These rules create a six per cent promotion quota for Superintendents of Accounts with at least three years of service, a measure expected to improve efficiency in the state’s financial management system.
