APC, APUWJ Welcome Approval of Arunachal Press Accreditation Rules 2025

The Arunachal Press Club (APC) and the Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) have thanked the state government for approving the draft Arunachal Pradesh Press Accreditation Rules, 2025, terming it a landmark step toward strengthening professionalism and transparency in the state’s media ecosystem.
In a joint statement, the two apex media bodies said the decision, taken during the state Cabinet meeting on Monday, would streamline and standardize the accreditation process for journalists and media personnel across Arunachal Pradesh. The new framework aims to ensure that bona fide professionals receive due recognition and institutional access.
According to the statement, the rules were prepared by the Information and Public Relations (IPR) Department following extensive inter-departmental consultations and legal vetting. The organizations noted that the new guidelines would bring much-needed clarity and uniformity to the accreditation process while aligning it with contemporary media practices.
“The approval of the draft Arunachal Pradesh Press Accreditation Rules, 2025, reflects the state government’s commitment to fostering a transparent, ethical, and professional media environment,” the statement said. It added that the move would strengthen institutional engagement between the government and the press while upholding high journalistic standards.
The APC and APUWJ further stated that the updated rules would facilitate easier access for accredited journalists to government departments, official programs, and information channels, thereby improving public communication and dissemination of verified information.
Describing the development as a progressive reform, the organizations appreciated the IPR Department’s consultative approach in drafting the rules. They expressed confidence that the notification of the rules in the official gazette would pave the way for smooth and timely implementation.
Reiterating their commitment to responsible journalism, both bodies said they would continue to work in partnership with the government to strengthen democratic discourse and accountability in Arunachal Pradesh.
