The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet, on February 17, approved the Late Kalikho Pul Memorial Table Tennis Championship as an annual event, commemorating the legacy of the former Chief Minister. The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting in Nyapin, coinciding with the third edition of the event organized by Table Tennis Arunachal (TTA).
The championship aims to promote table tennis and provide a platform for young players across the state, continuing Kalikho Pul’s dedication to youth development and sports. Pul, who served briefly as Arunachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister in 2016, was known for his social contributions and advocacy for youth welfare.
Dasanglu Pul, MLA of Hayuliang and wife of the late leader, emphasized her husband’s deep interest in sports. “We felt table tennis would be a fitting tribute to his legacy, along with other popular sports like badminton and football,” she said. Ojingso Pul, Pul’s son, described his father as a people’s leader with a strong work ethic. He expressed hope that the tournament’s inclusion in the state’s annual sports calendar would inspire future generations of athletes.
