Chief Minister Pema Khandu has announced an ambitious three-year plan to revolutionize education in Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing quality learning, improved infrastructure, and expanded opportunities for youth. Addressing a public meeting in Logum Jini, near Aalo in West Siang, Khandu assured comprehensive reforms in the education sector backed by actionable plans. Led by Education Minister P.D. Sona and advisor Mutchu Mithi, brainstorming sessions are underway across the state to identify core issues in education. A detailed report with recommendations will soon be submitted, which Khandu pledged to implement fully. “Our focus is on quality over quantity. Schools will be equipped with modern facilities, including hostels, qualified teachers, and advanced teaching methods,” he stated.
Highlighting the state’s fiscal growth, Khandu said rising revenue—boosted by Arunachal’s massive hydropower potential—will fund developmental initiatives. With 50% of India’s hydropower capacity, the state has secured a 26% equity share for projects and 12% free power, ensuring long-term revenue growth. In West Siang, Khandu inaugurated a multipurpose hall, a walkway along the Yomgo River, and sanctioned a road project connecting Jirdin and Eyi via Bumri. Promising to enhance tourism infrastructure, he sought plans to develop Yomgo River as a prime destination.
Khandu also visited Silluk, the cleanest village in East Siang, assuring expedited flood protection measures and upgrades to the Mebo CHC. Inspections in Pasighat covered Smart City projects, including a market upgrade and a guest house under construction.
