Arunachal Deputy CM Chowna Mein inaugurates major projects near Indo-China border

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated two landmark projects near Mechukha, Arunachal Pradesh, on January 3, highlighting the region’s developmental strides and cultural heritage. The event saw the unveiling of India’s tallest prayer wheel, Dorjee Sempa Khorchen, and the NCDS Multipurpose Building. Dedicated to the late Pasang Wangchuk Sona and his wife Rinjin Drema Sona, the prayer wheel houses 1.6 billion prayers and 16 sacred Dungyur scrolls. Consecrated by His Eminence Dzogchen Ganor Rinpoche, it is envisioned as a major pilgrimage and tourist attraction.

Deputy CM Mein commended the efforts of Minister Passang Dorjee Sona in preserving Mechukha’s unique heritage while driving development. “Mechukha is fast becoming a top destination in Arunachal Pradesh,” Mein noted, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting tourism and infrastructure. Mein also laid foundation stones for projects including an adventure park, a cultural haat, a suspension bridge, and a hydropower project.

The NCDS Multipurpose Building will serve as a hub for cultural and community activities, featuring a meditation hall, conference space, and accommodations for monks. The ceremony, attended by dignitaries and community leaders, underscored Mechukha’s growing significance as a regional center for tourism and spirituality.
