Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein conducted a review of the small hydro power projects overseen by the Hydropower Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Limited (HPDCAPL). The review aimed to enhance the progress of both ongoing and proposed hydro power initiatives within the state. Key topics of discussion included the Sumbachu Small Hydro Power Project and the Taksang Chu Small Hydro Power Project, both located in Tawang.
During the review, various aspects including construction milestones, electro-mechanical works, and inter-departmental coordination were examined, as well as site-specific challenges that may impact timely project completion. The assessment also covered the readiness of other identified projects allocated to HPDCAPL. A roadmap was developed to expedite these projects while ensuring environmental responsibility and significant local involvement.
Chowna Mein highlighted the importance of empowering HPDCAPL as a primary implementing agency, emphasizing the promotion of clean, decentralized energy solutions. He noted the significance of responsible hydropower development in enhancing the long-term energy security of Arunachal Pradesh.
