The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Arunachal Pradesh arrested a senior government official on July 17 for allegedly accepting a bribe related to a rural electrification project in the Parang Circle. The arrested official, Dogin Tade, serves as the Executive Engineer (Electrical) in the Sagalee Electrical Division. According to the ACB, Tade was caught red-handed while accepting ₹40,000 as partial payment of an alleged ₹7 lakh bribe he had demanded from a contractor. The complaint, filed by contractor Nabam Jaane, accused Tade of soliciting 13 percent of the total project bill as a bribe to process payments for an electrification scheme titled “Extension of 11KV line from Seema to Poteh village, including LT line and sub-station construction.” The scheme is part of a rural development initiative aimed at improving power connectivity in remote villages of Arunachal Pradesh.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and apprehended the executive engineer while he was accepting the bribe money. Officials confirmed that the tainted cash was recovered from Tade’s possession at the scene. Additional materials, including transaction records and relevant documents, were also seized during the operation. The arrest has been made under Sections 7 and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, which deal with public servants accepting illegal gratification and criminal misconduct by public officials.
“This arrest is a part of our continuing effort to maintain integrity in public service and ensure accountability in government-funded projects,” said an ACB official. “We are committed to uprooting corruption wherever it is found, especially in departments that directly impact rural development and essential services.”
