Arunachal Governor calls for united effort to maintain cleanliness in Itanagar

K. T. Parnaik urged everyone to work together to keep the state capital clean, emphasizing the need for greater urban management and public engagement. According to an official statement, the governor encouraged people to respect public areas, practice good hygiene, and pay for the necessary services provided by the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) while chairing a review meeting on sanitation and civic amenities at the Lok Bhavan. He urged the active participation of corporators in planning and execution and emphasized the prudent use of IMC funding.

According to Parnaik, it is the duty of elected officials to mobilize public support in order to guarantee that civic responsibilities and cleanliness standards are upheld. The governor voiced concerns over the upkeep of the city’s crematorium, stating that it had to be handled with tact and decency. In order to maintain its cleanliness and accessibility, he emphasized the significance of appropriate record-keeping, consistent maintenance, and competent administration. Parnaik emphasized the natural beauty of Itanagar and proposed turning the road from Donyi Polo Airport to the capital into a green space that would highlight the abundant wildlife and flora of Arunachal Pradesh.

He suggested that the IMC, the district administration of the Itanagar Capital Region, and the Urban Development Department coordinate their efforts in this area. While Urban Development Commissioner Vivek Pandey provided information on waste management, sanitation programs, and steps to enhance civic facilities, Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta urged for increased interdepartmental coordination. In order to accomplish her objective of a capital free of plastic, Mayor Likha Nari Tadar reaffirmed her vision and asked for the support of all societal segments.
