Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik celebrated the state Legislative Assembly’s golden jubilee on Thursday, marking a historic milestone and praising it as a “sacred temple of democracy, a beacon of hope, a forum for unity, and a symbol of inclusive progress.” The governor officially began the 45-day celebrations, which honor 50 years of legislative excellence and democratic resilience in the state, by unveiling the Golden Jubilee Commemoration Plaque at the Assembly facility here.
Parnaik, who reflected on the Assembly’s journey since its founding in 1975, said the occasion was a testimony to the state’s democratic progress, the maturity of its institutions, and the resilient spirit of its people, rather than just a celebration of time passing. He gave sincere thanks to the visionary leaders of the past and present, the Speakers, Deputy Speakers, and Assembly staff who have made the institution a proud symbol of openness, tradition, and representative government through their knowledge and dedication.
The governor of the state, Parnaik, emphasized the state’s transformation, emphasizing peace, inclusivity, and unity in diversity. He praised the Assembly for its landmark legislation and visionary leadership. He called for improved administrative outreach, citizen-centric governance, financial transparency, and accountability, land reforms, solid waste management, hygiene, and sanitation legislation, and women’s empowerment.
