Arunachal plans museum and bilingual book to honor Bhupen Hazarika’s legacy

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein held a high-level coordination meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Itanagar to talk about the plans for Arunachal’s commemoration of Bhupen Hazarika’s legacy, which will include multilingual literature and a museum in Roing.

In Roing, Lower Dibang Valley district, a museum dedicated to the “Bard of the Brahmaputra” will be constructed to showcase his life, works of art, and enduring impact on the region. A bilingual commemorative book describing his life and contributions will also be published in conjunction with the occasion.

“The celebration will honor not only Dr. Hazarika’s music but also the timeless principles of cultural pride, inclusivity, and intercommunal harmony that he promoted,” Mein said during the gathering.

Senior state government personnel, including Secretary RK Sharma and Secretary to the Chief Minister Sadhana Deori, attended the meeting together with MLAs Mutchu Mithi, Oken Tayeng, and Puinnyo Apum and Education and Tourism Minister PD Sona. Manjula Hazarika, secretary of the Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Trust, and her staff were also there, along with YD Thongchi, president of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society. The centennial celebrations are intended to honor Dr. Hazarika’s enduring creative and cultural contributions to the country and the region.
