Arunachal police busts heroin smuggling and cannabis network, two arrested

In a series of successful anti-drug operations, Arunachal Pradesh police seized heroin and dismantled an inter-state cannabis supply network, resulting in the arrest of two individuals in separate cases. In East Siang district, police seized 2.49 grams of heroin valued at Rs 3,000 and arrested 26-year-old Kadum Tatin, a resident of Pasighat. Acting on specific intelligence, the police launched an operation leading to the recovery of contraband and a mobile phone from Tatin’s possession. Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba confirmed the arrest and stated that a case under Section 21(a) of the NDPS Act has been registered at Pasighat police station.

In another operation on December 1, the Naharlagun Police dismantled an inter-state cannabis supply network, apprehending Ganga Bahadur Thapa (33). Thapa was allegedly smuggling cannabis from Assam for distribution in the Capital ICR region. The operation, conducted under the guidance of SP Naharlagun Mihin Gambo and SDPO Rishi Longdo, targeted Thapa’s residence near Kankarnallah Bridge. The police have intensified efforts to crack down on drug smuggling networks in the state.

These arrests highlight Arunachal Pradesh police’s commitment to curbing drug-related crimes and safeguarding the community from illegal narcotics.
