Arunachal Pradesh Celebrates Donyi Polo Day with Traditional Fervour

The Donyi Polo Day was celebrated in Arunachal Pradesh by indigenous faith believers who offered prayers to nature deities, particularly the Sun (Donyi) and Moon (Polo), in traditional prayer halls known as ganggings. The festivities were marked by a sense of cultural pride and religious fervor, with many participants gathering across the state. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasized the significance of Donyi Polo as an integral part of their identity, asserting that it represents their ethics and connection to nature. Similarly, Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik highlighted the importance of preserving the state’s diverse cultural legacy. Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao underscored the day’s significance for Donyi Polo followers and inaugurated the Donyi Polo Kumko Building, reinforcing the belief that Donyi Polo embodies the natural forces sustaining life on Earth.
