Arunachal Pradesh emerges as ‘Performer’ in education, Achieves 100% elementary enrollment and improved student-teacher ratio

According to chief minister Pema Khandu, Arunachal Pradesh has made significant strides in increasing access to high-quality education, as seen by its 100% adjusted net enrollment at the elementary level and 11.7% secondary dropout rate. Khandu highlighted significant progress in the education sector during his administration’s “PEMA 3.0 – Year of Reforms and Growth,” stating that the state’s student-teacher ratio has significantly improved and is currently at 11:1, which is significantly better than the national average of 24:1.

Khandu wrote on social media, “These milestones reflect our commitment to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all.” Additionally, he stated that NITI Aayog’s SDG India Index 2024, Arunachal Pradesh has formally moved from being classified as a “Aspirant” to a “Performer” state under Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).

The SDG India Index, developed by NITI Aayog, is the primary instrument used in the country to track national and sub-national progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It provides a thorough overview of the SDG accomplishments of states and union territories by assessing their performance on 113 indicators covering 16 targets.
