Arunachal Pradesh kicked off the nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2025’ campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission at Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar, with Chief Minister Pema Khandu leading the pledge for a cleaner, greener state. The initiative marks a renewed focus on community participation and environmental responsibility across the state. The launch event saw the participation of senior leaders including Ministers Mama Natung and Balo Raja, Advisor to Urban Affairs Techi Kaso, Itanagar Mayor Tamme Phassang, Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta, corporators of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation, along with hundreds of volunteers from government departments, NGOs, self-help groups (SHGs), educational institutions, and community organizations.
Addressing the gathering, CM Khandu emphasized that cleanliness is not only about clean streets but also about ensuring healthier families, a greener environment, and a brighter future for all. “Every effort counts, and every hand joined makes Arunachal stronger, cleaner, and brighter. Let’s do this together,” he said. To mark the occasion, NGOs and youth organizations carried out extensive social service activities, including cleaning streams at IG Park. Groups such as YMCR (Youth Mission for Clean River), NSS units of Rajiv Gandhi University, church youth groups, Kamba Aao, and several SHGs actively participated, reflecting widespread community involvement.
CM Khandu also expressed gratitude to the Department of Urban Development (UD) and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) for coordinating the statewide drive. On the sidelines, he extended birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday and highlighted a milestone achievement for the state — the commencement of daily flight operations from Itanagar to Delhi, enhancing connectivity and accessibility.
