The Namsai district launched an awareness campaign about the implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Solid Waste (Management & Handling) bye-laws 2023. The campaign’s objectives are to promote a cleaner and greener environment, educate locals about appropriate waste segregation, and charge user fees for rubbish collection. ALC Line, Fire Brigade Colony, Admin Colony, Transport Colony, Teachers’ Colony, Medical Colony, Block Colony, WRD Colony, PWD Colony, and Buddha Mandir Backside were among the 10 colonies that were covered in the first session.
While executive engineer Mosum Sema, the member secretary of the district urban development agency, gave a thorough PowerPoint presentation on the value of waste segregation and the breakdown of user fees for garbage collection, urban development assistant engineer Jumtum Potom briefed the stakeholders on the program’s goals. Speaking at the event, C R Khampa, the deputy commissioner and chairman of the DUDA, encouraged everyone to plant trees, conduct proper waste management, and make personal contributions to keeping Namsai green and clean.
Additionally, he described the function and application of the user fees that are received from households. Dr. Keshab Sarmah, the district programme officer, urged locals to maintain clean houses and surroundings by emphasising the advantages of appropriate waste management for both the environment and human health. Officers and employees from the department of urban development, as well as stakeholders from the mentioned colonies, actively participated in the program. Until May 21, 2025, the awareness campaign will continue in various areas.
