Arunachal resident defrauded of Rs 92 Lakh; Police nab fraudster in major bust

The Capital Police have arrested Dheeraj Pao, a fraudster who allegedly duped an Arunachal Pradesh resident, Jumda Padu, of ₹92 lakh. The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Tamo Bakhang and Assistant Sub-Inspector Manish Kumar, under the supervision of Officer-in-Charge Inspector Neeraj Nishant and SDPO DySP Kengo Dirchi.

Pao, posing as the director of M/S Rhodus Estates Private Limited, deceived Padu into investing in a fictitious project involving the installation of Airtel towers across Arunachal Pradesh. After successfully collecting ₹92 lakh, Pao failed to deliver on his promises and subsequently cut off all communication with the victim.

Following an extensive investigation and intelligence gathering, the Capital Police traced Pao to his residence in Guwahati. He was apprehended late on October 3, 2024, in a coordinated operation with Assam Police.
