Arunachal Sees Growth in GST Collection

Arunachal Pradesh has experienced a significant 35.7% increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections during the first nine months of the 2025-26 financial year, surpassing the national average growth of 6.8%. The state’s GST revenue reached Rs 1,519 crore between April and December 2025, compared to Rs 1,324 crore in the same period in 2024, resulting in an absolute increase of Rs 195 crore. According to the central GST Commissionerate in Itanagar, this remarkable growth can be attributed to robust economic performance, enhanced taxpayer compliance, and effective measures aimed at increasing revenue. The higher collections signal booming business activities and improved market conditions, with key sectors such as retail, services, tourism, transport, and hospitality showing significant development. Authorities credit the growth to policy initiatives that promote ease of doing business, governance reforms, and the adoption of digital technologies, which have collectively broadened the tax base and bolstered investor confidence. This revenue increase has fortified the state’s financial standing, enabling greater investment in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare programs.
