The Arunachal Senior Taekwondo Team made a remarkable impact at the 40th National Senior Kyorugi & 13th National Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2024, held from October 17 to 19 at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Puducherry. The team bagged an impressive haul of 2 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals, showcasing their prowess at the national level. In the Senior Female Group Poomsae under-30 category, the trio of Achum Sangha, Radha Bangsia, and Lumter Uli clinched the gold medal. Meanwhile, the Senior Male Group Poomsae under-40 category also secured gold, thanks to the efforts of Gangfung Gangsa, Mari Karbak, and Likha Govind. Gangfung Gangsa continued his stellar performance by winning a silver medal in the Senior Male Individual Poomsae under-40 category. Bronze medals were claimed by Khinsan Wangsu in the Senior Female Individual Poomsae under-30 category and Margam Karbak in the Senior Male Individual Poomsae under-60 category.
In the Senior Mixed Pair Poomsae under-30 category, the duo of Rikpy Nyodu and Miching Taja earned another bronze, while Akash Kumar Ram, Miching Taja, and Kame Bayang secured bronze in the same category. The team’s success also included special achievements, with Chello Marry being named the Best Female Fighter and qualifying for the 2025 National Games. Akash Kumar Ram also qualified for the National Games by finishing in the top 10. Arunachal Taekwondo Association officials expressed pride in the team’s success, with General Secretary Likha Robin praising the athletes for their dedication and hard work. President Kipa Kaha hailed the achievement as a milestone for the state’s Taekwondo community.
With strong coaching support from Kayang Darang and Ranjit Biswakarma, the team continues to elevate Arunachal Pradesh’s presence in national Taekwondo.
