At the Bengaluru nationals, Arunachal powerlifters win a record number of medals

At the National Powerlifting Championship in Bangalore, which took place from November 14–16, Arunachal Pradesh had one of its best performances to date. The state team returned home with a dominant medal total across senior, junior, and sub-junior classes. Senior lifter Santana Manlai’s gold in the –52 kg SBD category set the standard for the rest of the team, making her the team’s highlight performance. Her early victory boosted morale and created momentum during the three-day event, according to team officials.

The depth of Arunachal’s youth lineup was crucial. With gold medals in SBD, Single Bench, and Single Deadlift, Pinge Basar won the sub-junior division and became the most decorated athlete in the state. Prince Raj, who won silver in Single Bench and gold in SBD and Single Deadlift, was not far behind. The –60 kg sub-junior division also brought success, with Joseng Pangyouk taking double gold in Single Bench and Single Deadlift, while Tobang Norah earned silver in SBD.

Bidhata Nayak won two silver medals in the junior division of the –67.5 kg classes, while Tumge Karbak added a gold in the sub-junior Single Bench competition. Subham Singh won two gold medals in the sub-junior bench and deadlift divisions to complete the team’s accomplishment. The delegation’s leader, General Secretary Azad Basfore, stated that the outcomes demonstrated steady training and increasing grassroots involvement in the state.
