Bodak village in Arunachal goes green with massive plantation drive

In a major environmental initiative, residents of Bodak village in Arunachal Pradesh, along with their mission partner Megu Welfare Society (MWS), planted over 300 ornamental and other plant saplings of more than 30 species to enhance the village’s greenery. The plantation drive covered the village surroundings and a 2-km stretch leading to the Trans-Arunachal Highway under the Eco-Clean Mebo Mission (ECMM).

The plantation drive saw enthusiastic participation from all households of Bodak village, along with office bearers and members of MWS. The initiative is part of the ‘Pun:lek’ mission, launched on October 26, 2024, to transform Bodak into a floral village in Arunachal Pradesh.

Megu Welfare Society leaders Gampang Megu (President) and Ojing Megu (General Secretary), along with Mido Tayeng (General Secretary of Bodak Welfare Society), reaffirmed their commitment to making Bodak a model floral village. Their efforts were also recognized by Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng in the Arunachal State Assembly, where he highlighted the ongoing initiatives under ECMM in the 39th Mebo Assembly Constituency.

Located in the Mebo Sub-Division of East Siang District, Bodak village is known for its natural beauty and scenic landscape along the Siang River. The Pun:lek mission, meaning “group of flowers”, aims to plant ornamental and flowering trees along the village and approach roads, making it an emerging tourist attraction.
