Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has voiced concern about the state’s high rate of drug misuse. Participating in Sunday’s Adi Youth Fest 2024 at Pasighat, which was hosted by the Adi Ba:ne Kebang Youth Wing with the theme “Say No To Drugs,” Mein emphasized the negative impact that drug usage has on communities and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to address the issues. According to a news release released here on Monday, he called for strict measures against drug dealers in order to eliminate the increasing drug problem from society.
The deputy chief minister praised Women Against Social Evils and the Adi Ba:ne Kebang women’s wing for their efforts to combat the drug problem. He emphasized the significance of accepting societal obligations and the critical role that young people play in creating a better future for society. Youth involvement, he noted, can take many forms, including community service, education, and other contributions to society. According to Mein, even modest, constructive deeds taken together promote a more peaceful and successful community.
The deputy chief minister outlined the state government’s goal and reiterated that 2024 has been designated as the “Year of the Youth,” with a focus on providing youth with more possibilities for education, athletics, and personal growth. “The government of Arunachal Pradesh is dedicated to giving young people the tools and chances they need to prosper and make valuable contributions to society,” Mein stated. Tapir Gao, a member of the Arunachal East Lok Sabha, emphasized the youth’s enormous potential and responsibility in changing society.
