The 12th edition of the North East Festival will go off on November 15 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, including nearly 200 northeast Indian communities and performances by popular artists such as Zubeen Garg, Bipul Chettri, and Riar Saab. The event, organized by Socio-Cultural Trust Trend MMS and supported by the Ministry of DoNER, will feature a varied range of events and experiences that capture the region’s cultural, artistic, and entrepreneurial dynamism. The three-day festival will include kiosks featuring artisanal products from Northeastern communities. “From agricultural produce to traditional handlooms and crafts, this exhibition highlights the region’s resourcefulness, allowing attendees to engage directly with local artisans,” the organizers stated in a press conference on Wednesday.
The North East Festival has expanded well beyond its basic concept. What began as a cultural exhibition has become a platform for unity, mutual admiration, and shared experiences, as well as a tourism event. It has become Delhi’s premier tourism event. This event is more than just a visual display; it’s a celebration of the Northeast’s tradition, talent, and innovative spirit,” said Shyamkanu Mahanta, North East event’s organiser-in-chief. This year’s NEF Music Stage will showcase the best bands and musicians from the Northeast and Delhi. Folk artists from the Northeast will also perform traditional dances. The festival will end on November 17.
