Rupa police in West Kameng district seized 10.80 grams of suspected heroin from an alleged drug peddler on Saturday.
Acting on specific information about the transportation of drugs into Rupa, police set up a checkpoint (naka) on the highway at Rupa Mor near Chugh bridge. During the vehicle inspection, they recovered 10.80 grams of suspected heroin from an individual identified as Lobsang Dondup.
The search and seizure operation was conducted in the presence of an executive magistrate and independent witnesses to ensure transparency and legality.
Following the recovery, a case has been registered at Rupa Police Station under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused has been taken into custody and presented before the court.
The anti-drug operation was carried out under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police and led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kekdam Lingo. He was supported by Rupa Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Padi Payang, SI Bharat Rai, SI RN Dingla, ASI PN Choudhary, and their team.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to combat the drug menace in the district.
