Events at the state library in Arunachal Pradesh celebrate National Reading Day

With a number of activities geared at encouraging students to read and honoring regional literary voices, the Arunachal Pradesh department of Public Libraries commemorated National Reading Day on Friday at the state central library here. To commemorate the event, students from different schools in the Itanagar Capital Region participated in an essay writing contest. “The Decline of Reading Habits: Analyze the Factors Contributing to Declining Rates and Focus on the Need to Promote Literacy and Reading for Pleasure” was the contest’s theme. Mamang Dai, a Padma Shri recipient and well-known poet and novelist, highlighted the timeless importance of reading books at the ceremony. She urged pupils to develop reading and writing habits for clarity and expression, pointing out that reading real books enhances knowledge more profoundly than consuming digital content.
