Farah Khan told when she was first married, her mother-in-law expected her to use a stone to grind spices

Farah Khan, who runs a food vlog, recently recalled the time when her South Indian mother-in-law wanted her to use a stone to grind spices.
Farah Khan, who married Shirish Kunder in 2004, recently shared the challenges of marrying into a South Indian family and talked about overcoming cultural differences.
In her latest vlog, Farah met television star Karishma Tanna, whose husband also hails from a South Indian family. Farah recalled that when she was newly married, her mother-in-law expected her to grind spices using the traditional stone. She recalled how her mother-in-law would get disappointed seeing her use a mixer.
While cooking with Karishma Tanna, the filmmaker shared, “Once my mother-in-law told me, grind these spices by hand using grinding stones. Don’t grind them in a mixer.
I used to think, ‘Kiske paas itna time hai bhai?’ (Who has so much time?)” Hearing this, Karishma expressed surprise, while the actor’s South Indian mother-in-law shared, “Those spices make the food tastier.” To which Farah promptly replied, “They are delicious both ways.”
Earlier, Farah had shared how her mother-in-law had to struggle with the filmmaker’s food choices. Farah, who hosts Celebrity MasterChef, recently invited Hina Khan and her boyfriend Rocky on the show.
Speaking with them, she recalled, “My mother-in-law never cooked for me. She only brings food for her son. She brings idiyappam, coconut-based chicken, idli chutney and other such things, but not for me.”
She then joked, “Now, she will watch this episode and call me and say, ‘I don’t feed you my food because you don’t like it.'” In the same episode, she said that her mother-in-law might not be a fan of her famous roast chicken. She added, “They are Mangaloreans and they want coconut in everything.”
