In a tragic incident at Seppa District Hospital on Thursday, four people lost their lives and six others were injured in a dao attack allegedly carried out by Nikam Sangbia. The attack occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the hospital’s female ward, leaving the community in shock.
Superintendent of Police Kamdam Sikom reported that the deceased include the accused’s wife, Tade Sangbia, their two-year-old daughter, Mekhya Sangbia, hospital chowkidar Fei Beyong, and an attendant, Paka Welly Tallang. Among the injured is Officer-in-Charge of Seppa Police Station, Inspector Minli Geyi, who sustained injuries to his left hand while trying to intervene.
SP Sikom confirmed that the accused was immediately apprehended and is now in police custody. Initial reports suggest that the suspect attacked his wife and daughter on their hospital bed before turning on others nearby in a sudden, indiscriminate assault. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind this tragic incident. The attack has cast a pall over Seppa, with local authorities and residents expressing shock and grief at the devastating loss of lives.
