Governor K.T. Parnaik has proposed a robust, forward-looking roadmap to address the multifaceted challenges facing Arunachal Pradesh. Speaking at the deputy commissioners’ conference in Tawang on Friday, the governor emphasized the integration of technology, data-driven governance, and innovative local solutions to drive the state’s developmental agenda forward.
During his address, Governor Parnaik underscored the necessity of community participation and local ownership in government initiatives. He argued that policies must remain inclusive and responsive to grassroots realities to be truly effective. Given the state’s geographic vulnerability, he also called for a significant strengthening of disaster preparedness mechanisms and better inter-departmental coordination to build long-term resilience and ensure sustainable growth.
The governor identified a wide array of pressing issues, including complex land-related disputes, gaps in the quality of education, and persistent bottlenecks in infrastructure development. He further highlighted the emerging pressures of rapid urbanization, such as inadequate waste management, health concerns, and the sensitive issue of illegal migration. Stressing that these problems are deeply interconnected, he noted that they collectively impact environmental sustainability and the overall quality of life for the citizens of the state.
The regional aspiration of ‘Viksit Arunachal.’ The governor noted that the scale of central assistance provided to the Northeast—and specifically to Arunachal Pradesh—is unprecedented. He attributed this “exceptional support” to the state’s strategic importance along the northern borders with China and its pivotal role in India’s Act East Policy.
The governor reminded the attending deputy commissioners that the conference serves as a vital platform for reflection and collective problem-solving. He expressed his confidence that the insights shared during the deliberations would provide meaningful guidance to policymakers. The high-level event was attended by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, members of the state cabinet, and senior administrative officials, all of whom are tasked with translating this progressive vision into tangible state-wide growth.
