In line with the observance of Good Governance Week, a workshop on improving governance practices was held at the District Secretariat, Tezu, bringing together government officials, community leaders, and stakeholders. The event aimed to foster transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service delivery. Sajinglu Chai, retired Joint Director of Health Services, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the critical role of governance in national development. She highlighted the importance of transparency, inclusiveness, and responsiveness while offering actionable strategies for resolving public grievances effectively. Three key departments—Health, Education, and Public Health Engineering and Water Supply—showcased innovative approaches to service delivery:
Health: Community outreach programs focused on improving healthcare accessibility.
Education: Initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of grassroots education.
Public Health Engineering: Efforts to establish reliable water supply systems in underserved areas.
Sotailum Bellai, EAC Tezu and in-charge Deputy Commissioner, underscored the transformative potential of digital tools like CPGRAMS for grievance redressal and e-office systems for administrative transparency. He advocated for integrating such platforms to streamline governance processes. ZPM Tezu, Balong Tindiya, called for stronger inter-departmental collaboration to address community challenges effectively. Stressing the importance of a public service ethos, he urged officials to prioritize citizen welfare in their initiatives.
The workshop also explored public-private partnerships as a means to improve infrastructure and essential services in remote areas. Participants engaged in discussions on leveraging technology to bridge service delivery gaps and ensure accessibility for marginalized communities.
