‘Governor’s Medallion for Excellence’ conferred on NIMAS director at Raj Bhavan

On Monday, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik presented the “Governor’s Medallion for Excellence” to Col. R S Jamwal, Director of the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), for planning two renowned trips in recent years. The institute, located in Dirang in the northeastern state’s West Kameng area, just finished the Brahmaputra River rafting trip and the Mount Kanchenjunga climb. After awarding the medal, Parnaik spoke at Raj Bhavan here and described the excursions as historic achievements that will improve the state’s reputation in the adventure sports sector.

A new generation of Arunachali youngsters, he claimed, can be inspired by such accomplishments “to dream bigger, push their limits, and make their mark in adventure history.” The governor stressed that the state’s mountaineers, particularly Everest summiteers, have a great deal of unrealized potential and urged NIMAS to plan more events involving young people from the area.
