In April, Arunachal hits a new GST milestone with a 66 percent increase

In April of this year, Arunachal Pradesh recorded its biggest monthly Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection ever, following the national trend of hit GST revenue records. The state collected?332 crore in GST in April, a substantial 66 percent rise over the same period last year, according to a statement from the CGST&CX Commissionerate (Anti-Evasion Unit). In April 2025, GST receipts nationwide increased by 12.6% year over year to a new high of 2.37 lakh crore.

According to the statement, Arunachal’s taxpayer base has grown significantly since the implementation of the GST in July 2017 and currently consists of almost 20,000 registered taxpayers. Under the theme “Sunday on Cycles,” the Central GST Itanagar Commissionerate held a cyclothon on May 18 to increase public awareness of the GST as it approaches its ninth anniversary. The event’s goals were to raise awareness about GST and promote healthy living. The rally was kicked off at 8 AM at Bank Tinali, where about 45 enthusiastic people assembled despite the gloomy weather. At Indira Gandhi Park, the trip came to an end, capping an active morning of outreach and exercise.
