Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced a “pilot project for online water revenue payment” in the Itanagar Capital Region in an effort to improve user comfort and expedite the delivery of public services. The project is a significant step in the state’s digitization of vital services. “Paying a water bill no longer requires residents in the Itanagar Capital Region to miss half a day of work or wait in a large line. In an X post, Khandu stated, “Now, it’s just a few taps on a phone, a few clicks on a screen.”
Residents may now pay their water bills online thanks to the new system, which eliminates the need for in-person trips to government offices and drastically reduces wait times. The public health engineering and water supply department is in charge of carrying out the trial project. State Home Minister Mama Natung, who serves as the PHE&WS minister and advisor to Minister Pani Taram, accompanied Khandu at the inaugural event. Khandu said the project underscores his government’s larger commitment to transparency, efficiency, and digital empowerment, calling it a citizen-first reform.
Khandu emphasized that all citizens should have equal access to hassle-free public services, regardless of where they live. “Whether you reside in the Namsai plains or the Tawang hills, you deserve quick, easy, and transparent public services,” he continued. With the goal of creating a strong, intuitive digital platform for managing water utilities, the state administration intends to progressively expand the system to all district heads.
