Indeed Report: 61% Indian Professionals Prefer Global Remote Jobs Over Overseas Relocation

Indian professionals are increasingly opting for global careers without leaving the country, with 61% showing a stronger preference for global remote roles rather than relocating overseas, according to a new report by job platform Indeed. The study highlights a clear shift in career strategies amid tightening visa norms and more complex international mobility requirements.
The report, based on responses from 552 employers and 1,019 employees across India and global markets, found that nearly half of Indian professionals would choose to continue working from India if their preferred visa options were not available. This reflects growing confidence in remote work models that allow access to global opportunities while staying local.
Despite this trend, aspirations for international exposure remain strong. About 44% of respondents said they still value global careers, while 51% believe working abroad offers unique benefits—especially in the early stages of their careers—that may be difficult to replicate in India.
The findings suggest that while relocation is becoming less attractive, Indian professionals are redefining global careers through remote work, balancing international ambitions with flexibility and stability at home.
