The Indian Army has initiated a significant Search and Rescue operation in the Chaglagam region of Arunachal Pradesh following a vehicle accident reported on 10 December 2025. A truck, carrying 22 workers from Tinsukia, fell off a cliff near KM 40 on the Hayuliang–Chaglagam road on the night of 08 December. The lone survivor managed to reach Chipra GREF Camp, indicating that the site had not been previously reported due to its difficult terrain. On 11 December, the Spear Corps deployed multiple Search and Rescue teams, medical personnel, and local police to the area. After four hours of searching, the truck was located about 200 meters below the road, obscured by dense foliage and not visible from the air. Eighteen bodies have been found and retrieval efforts are ongoing. Local officials, including the District Medical Officer, are coordinating the evacuation of casualties, while inquiries are being made regarding the workforce involved in the incident. Despite challenging conditions, the Indian Army is collaborating with civil administration and other agencies to locate the remaining individuals and provide necessary assistance.
