Malaika Arora Breaks Silence on Being Judged: ‘I Stopped Explaining Myself

Malaika Arora stated that she felt emancipated the minute she stopped justifying herself to others. Malaika Arora, a model-actor, has never shied away from being herself, whether on screen as a dancer or off screen as a reality TV judge.
She has also been fairly candid about her personal life, discussing her romances on her own time and pace.

In a new interview, Malaika Arora discussed how to be herself the hard way.

“It was difficult because people enjoy telling you what you should or shouldn’t be. I was judged for my career, my appearance, my relationships, you name it.

“But once I stopped justifying myself, I felt free. My main takeaway was, “The only story that matters is the one you write for yourself.”

The actor, who has a 22-year-old son named Arhaan with previous spouse and actor-producer Arbaaz Khan, stated that she has always followed her instincts in life.

“I’ve been labeled as too aggressive, too vocal, too everything. And honestly? I’m wearing it like a crown now. If I am ‘too much’ for someone, they are most likely not enough for me…

“Whether it’s fashion, fitness, or just the decisions I’ve made, I’ve never followed a formula. “I’ve always believed that true confidence comes when you stop performing for the world and start living for yourself,” said Malaika Arora, whose most recent public romance was with actor Arjun Kapoor.

She has days when she questions herself, just like everyone else.

“But over the years, I’ve learned to meet those moments with kindness rather than criticism,” she says.

Malaika Arora defines confidence as the ability to move forward with grace in the face of self-doubt.
