Manipal Hospitals expands North East footprint with ‘Anveshana’ initiative, targets health awareness and referral growth

Manipal Hospitals EM Bypass strengthened its outreach in the North East by hosting ‘Anveshana – Medical Education for Media’ at the Arunachal Press Club, positioning the initiative as a strategic step to bridge healthcare awareness gaps and expand access to specialised care. The programme brought together leading doctors and media professionals to promote early diagnosis, accurate health communication, and emergency preparedness.

The event featured the launch of a Media Privilege Card and a hands-on CPR training session, reinforcing the role of timely intervention in critical care. Specialists including Dr. Kinshuk Chatterjee (Surgical Oncology), Dr. Kaustav Debnath (Orthopaedics), Dr. Raja Majumder (Emergency Medicine), and Dr. Chirasree Sanyal (Clinical Haematology) highlighted rising health concerns such as high cancer incidence, widespread anaemia, trauma-related injuries, and low CPR awareness. Doctors stressed that delayed diagnosis—especially with 60–70% of cancer cases detected late—continues to impact survival rates in the region.

From a business standpoint, Manipal Hospitals is leveraging Kolkata as a hub for advanced treatment, reducing patient outflow to distant metros. The group, which operates 49 hospitals across 24 cities with over 12,600 beds and serves 8 million patients annually, is focusing on strengthening referral networks from underserved regions like Arunachal Pradesh.

In Itanagar, the initiative is likely to drive demand for diagnostics, preventive screenings, and specialised consultations, while improving patient referral pipelines to tertiary care centres, creating new opportunities in the regional healthcare ecosystem.
