A group of unidentified individuals reportedly disrupted the tendering process and stole technical bid documents related to the construction of a G+2 (35-bedded) working women’s hostel in Tawang, a project valued at Rs 649.96 lakh.
The incident took place around 2:30 PM on Thursday at the office of the Executive Engineer (EE) of the Water Resources Department (WRD) in Tawang. According to reports, a group of youths aged between 20 to 25 stormed into the office and vandalized the tender box just before the scheduled opening of the technical bids.
The miscreants were allegedly accusing the executive engineer of intentionally misprinting the submission dates to benefit certain firms. However, the claim remains unverified, as the EE could not be contacted for comments at the time of reporting.
Sources revealed that five firms had submitted bids: NT Enterprises, Nirmang Enterprises, ST Enterprise, Yeshi Thinley Construction, and Rinchin Dorjee Construction. The tender notice was issued on 15 July 2025, with applications due by 22 July and bid openings scheduled for 24 July.
Tawang police confirmed the vandalism, stating the report was filed post office hours. No official response has been issued by WRD Tawang yet.
