In a commendable display of dedication and swift action, Naharlagun police successfully rescued a 25-year-old woman abducted and taken to Bihar, as well as a minor girl reported missing in Assam. These operations underscore the unwavering commitment of the police force to safeguard the well-being of the victims. The first incident unfolded with the abduction of a 25-year-old woman, who was traced to Mirzapur village in Bihar’s Vaishali district. The accused, identified as Pintu Rai (25) of Mirzapur, was apprehended by a special police team from Naharlagun, led by Sub-Inspector B. Singh, with assistance from Bihar Police on May 22. Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo stated that an investigation commenced following the registration of a case under Sections 365 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), assigned to SI Singh for investigation.
Utilizing a combination of technical analysis and traditional investigative methods, the police located the accused in Mirzapur, and Rai was subsequently arrested. He was produced before a judicial magistrate first-class in Hajipur, Bihar, where a three-day transit remand was granted. Following this, he was presented in the court of a judicial magistrate first-class in Yupia on May 25 and remanded to three-day police custody for further investigation.The investigation revealed that Rai had deceitfully lured the woman to Bihar. Following her rescue, the woman underwent a thorough medical check-up and was handed over to her biological mother in sound health.
In a separate incident, Naharlagun police successfully recovered a minor girl from Nalbari village under the jurisdiction of Dhalgaon police station in Assam’s Darrang district. The girl had been reported missing from Naharlagun, with Case No. 54/24 registered under Section 363 of the IPC. Swift recovery within 24 hours was orchestrated by a police team led by SI Niri Rama, under the supervision of the SP and Officer-in-Charge Inspector K. Dev of Naharlagun Police Station.
