Org Seeks Clarification From APPSC On Last-Minute Examination Rule Change

The Arunachal Frontier Tribal Front (AFTF) has demanded clarification from the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) over the partial modification of the physical efficiency test (PET) for male candidates in the ongoing Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE), 2024.

The AFTF raised concerns that the change was made under “suspicious and dubious circumstances,” causing doubts about the transparency and fairness of the exam process.

In a letter to the APPSC secretary on Tuesday, the AFTF pointed out that the commission issued a notification on July 19, altering the PET criteria by removing the obstacle race for male candidates, even though the PET had already been conducted on July 18 and 19.

The organization argued that changing the rules mid-exam breaches the commission’s standard procedures and Supreme Court guidelines, which prohibit such alterations during an ongoing examination.

The AFTF also questioned if the APPSC had yielded to pressure from the Home Department, citing an order from July 18 that seemed to prompt the sudden rule change.

They demanded a list of qualified and disqualified candidates, including those who failed the omitted obstacle race, and called for transparency to protect candidates’ interests and maintain public trust.
