A severe cold wave has intensified across Northern India, with the National Capital Region recording a minimum temperature of 2.8°C this morning. The extreme chill, combined with the ongoing dense fog, has forced the local power grid to issue “Brownout Alerts” to manage a record-breaking surge in electricity demand for space heating. Schools in Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab have been ordered to remain closed for an additional week as the meteorological department predicts sub-zero temperatures in parts of Rajasthan by tonight.
