In a rare military engagement, President Droupadi Murmu became only the second President of India to embark on an operational submarine voyage. The President spent several hours onboard the INS Vaghsheer, a frontline Kalvari-class submarine, off the western coast. During the sortie, she witnessed combat drills and torpedo launch simulations, later hailing the “extraordinary valor and professionalism” of the Indian Navy’s submariners. The event marks a symbolic conclusion to a year where India officially surpassed Germany to become the world’s fourth-largest economy.
