Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah introduced the National Cooperation Policy (NCP)-2025 in New Delhi, with the objective of fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’. This policy emphasizes the advancement of 1.4 billion individuals in India, encompassing villagers, agricultural farmers, rural women, Dalits, and tribal communities. The aspiration is to create a Viksit Bharat by 2047 through ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’. The policy seeks to foster small cooperative units that are professional, transparent, technology-driven, accountable, economically self-sufficient, and successful, with the goal of establishing at least one cooperative unit in every village. The cooperative sector possesses a distinctive ability to inclusively enhance the nation’s economy with contributions from all 1.4 billion citizens. Six foundational pillars have been identified to realize the objectives for the cooperative sector: reinforcing the foundation, encouraging vibrancy, preparing cooperative societies for future challenges, improving inclusivity and broadening outreach, venturing into new sectors, and equipping the younger generation for cooperative advancement. A goal has been established to triple the cooperative sector’s contribution to the nation’s GDP by 2034.
