Shringla pushes rail connectivity, tourism and investment rollout to unlock Northeast growth

MP Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Thursday highlighted infrastructure expansion, rail connectivity and tourism development as key drivers of economic transformation in the North Eastern Region, calling for stronger monitoring of ongoing projects and effective utilisation of central funds. Raising the issue in Parliament, he sought details on the progress of initiatives announced at the Rising North East Summit and urged the government to ensure that investment commitments translate into employment, trade expansion and sustainable regional growth.

Shringla emphasised that improved rail and road connectivity linking remote areas of the Northeast to the rest of the country is already symbolising greater integration and opportunity, bringing markets closer, boosting tourism and strengthening national unity. Stressing the tourism potential of the region, he described the Northeast as a hub of eco, cultural and adventure tourism supported by rich tribal heritage and natural beauty.

Quoting his intervention, Shringla said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modiji has displayed a deep and heartfelt connection with the Northeast… During the recent Northeast Investors’ Summit inaugurated by him, investors committed investment interests of Rs 4.3 lakh crore.”
