Deputy Commissioner of Tawang Namgyal Angmo, IAS, hosted a thorough preliminary discussion with important tourism industry stakeholders at her office chamber as part of a strategic strategy to encourage responsible tourism and improve tourist satisfaction. In one of the most popular tourist spots in Arunachal Pradesh, the summit represented a major step toward striking a balance between tourism development, sustainability, and environmental conservation.
The debate was attended by members of the Hoteliers Association of Tawang, representatives of the Tawang Monastery, Rho, Jangda, Mogto, Gomkyaleng, and Mirba village leaders, and officials from the Department of Tourism. Implementing a controlled ticketing system for well-known destinations including the Tawang Monastery, Bumla Pass, Jhongatser Lake, Chumig Gyatse (Holy Waterfall), and Chagzam Bridge was one of the main ideas proposed.
The Tawang District Council (DC) is introducing a tourism initiative to generate revenue for site maintenance and waste management, promoting environmental stewardship and sustainable tourism. The revenue will be used by local communities, while a portion will be allocated to solid waste management projects. The initiative is expected to enhance the district’s appeal and ensure long-term preservation, promoting inclusive and consultative planning.
