The government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring child safety

Women and Child Development Minister Dasanglu Pul has voiced her concern regarding a child abuse incident in the Lower Dibang Valley district, emphasizing that the state government is dedicated to ensuring justice and safety for children.

During a meeting with key stakeholders in child welfare, Pul provided assurances of comprehensive government support for the victims and their families.

The case involved at least eight minor girls who were subjected to physical abuse by a 19-year-old migrant youth from the neighboring state of Assam, who was subsequently lynched by a mob.

The individual, identified as Riaz-Ul Kurim, was taken into police custody after being accused of sexually assaulting several girls.

The minister also expressed her approval of the state Cabinet’s recent decision to implement the ‘support person’ provision under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which is designed to offer emotional and procedural support to child victims throughout police and court proceedings.

This initiative is regarded as a significant advancement in Arunachal Pradesh’s commitment to establishing a strong and compassionate child protection framework.
