‘Arunachal Pradesh – India Centric Geospace’ was the title of a two-day seminar organized by the Indian Army in the Dibrugarh district of Aru. The two-day symposium started on March 5 at Dinjan Military Station and was attended by senior military personnel, policymakers, and academics. It further noted that it offered insightful information about the geopolitical, economic, and development elements of the area. Uttam Kumar Sinha, a prominent academic and analyst on transboundary rivers, climate change, and the Arctic, emphasized that India should improve its river management capacities on its own instead of responding to China’s actions. He emphasized the need for infrastructure development to be scientific, sustainable, and people-centered.
“We must develop our capacities and capabilities in a way that is both sustainable and human-friendly,” Sinha stated. Since the dams are being built on their side, we shouldn’t respond negatively to what the Chinese are doing. We must construct resilient, sustainable infrastructure that encourages cooperation between the government and its citizens. According to Samiran Goswami, executive director of the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), an agreement has been reached with Arunachal Pradesh to carry out 13 hydroelectric projects. “Out of those, NEEPCO will execute five hydel projects with a total installed capacity of 2,626 MW,” he stated.
