Two years have passed since Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the stunning Sela Tunnel, India’s tallest bi-lane tunnel at 13,000 feet, on March 9, 2023. During a recent visit to the tunnel, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju praised the entire crew for their outstanding accomplishment. According to a defense communiqué released on Saturday, the tunnel has allowed tourists, residents, and army convoys to traverse freely for the past year, greatly cutting down on travel time, distance, and expenses to Tawang and advanced locations. The tunnel has improved the socioeconomic climate of the area in addition to improving connectivity, as seen by the rise in tourism and the quick development of new hotels in the Tawang area.
