Tiger Killed Police Constable In Arunachal

A public safety advisory has been issued by the Lower Dibang Valley district administration after a tragic tiger attack claimed the life of a police personnel in the Mayudia area of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday night. Authorities have urged residents, commuters, and visitors to remain extremely cautious and to avoid walking or using two-wheelers along the 40–65 km stretch of the Roing–Anini road until further notice.

The shocking incident took place when Head Constable Chikseng Manpung of Arunachal Pradesh Police was reportedly attacked by a tiger while returning from Anini on his motorcycle. He had been on official duty during Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s recent visit to the region and was posted as a radio operator at Roing Police Station.

Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police Manish Saurya said police and forest department teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information, and the body was later recovered. The incident has caused widespread concern, as tiger attacks on humans are rare in Arunachal Pradesh.

Officials said there had been multiple reports of tiger sightings in the Mayudia region over the past week. SP Saurya added that, in coordination with the forest department, two-wheelers have been temporarily barred from using the route as a precautionary measure.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Roing, Mito Rumi, stated that a tigress with three sub-adult cubs had been spotted on the road, particularly during night hours. A specialized expert team from Itanagar and other tiger reserves in the state is on its way with proper equipment to safely capture and relocate the animals.

Authorities have instructed the forest department to take urgent steps to control the situation and ensure public safety. Meanwhile, commuters travelling in four-wheelers have also been advised to exercise extreme caution while passing through the affected stretch.
