Tributes Paid to Brave but Unsung Heroes on Komsing Day in Arunachal Pradesh

The second edition of Ke:míng Longa (Komsing Day) was observed with patriotic fervor at the sacred Riné Dé:ré in Komsing Kumku, Siang district on Tuesday. The day is observed as Insurrection Day to commemorate the bravery and resilience of the unsung heroes who fought during the Anglo-Abor Wars against British colonial rule. The observance also marks the historic events of March 31, 1911, when Lt. Matmur Jamoh assassinated British officer Noel Williamson, an incident that later led to the Fourth Anglo-Abor War. Arunachal Pradesh Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Ojing Tasing, who attended the programme as chief guest, said that Ke:míng Longa reminds people of a past written in sacrifice, courage and unity, and stands as a tribute to the strength and legacy of the ancestors. MLA Tapi Darang, Deputy Chief Councillor PMC Kamin Lego, Councillor Rahul Tamuk, ZPM Rebo Block Nonong Jamoh, Mandal President 35-Pangin Tani Taki, PRI representatives and other dignitaries were also present.
Earlier, a walkathon from Karo Dé:ré to Riné Dé:ré witnessed large participation from the public.
The programme was organised by the Komi Gumin Development Committee
